Internet Pornography:  Playing with "Sexnology"

Thursday, March 24, 2016     7:00 to 8:30 PM

Digital technology is omnipresent and it is said that roughly 13% of all internet searches are sex-related.  Although “sexnology” facilitates sexual addiction, it does not cause sexual addiction. This workshop addresses the questions of the function of internet pornography:  when does it become a problem, the neurochemistry of cyberporn use (some say it is as addictive as crack cocaine), sex differences, and treatment.

This seminar is designed to help the participant begin to:

1.       Discuss how cybersex accelerates compulsive sexual behavior.

2.       Describe how pornography addiction is assessed and commonly treated.

3.       Evaluate the addictive system and the core unconscious fantasies and beliefs that underly it.

CE Target audience:  Psychologists (all levels), Social Workers, Counselors

Presenter:  Frances Bigda-Peyton, Ph.D., Cert. Psya. is on the faculty at BGSP.  She has a private practice in Bedford, MA and has a special interest in the treatment of sexual addiction.
